Club career

Shenzhen Kingway

Zhang Wenzhao would start his professional football career at Shenzhen Kingway in 2006 after he graduated from their youth team. In his debut season he would find significant playing time due to his versatility in his ability to play as a left-winger or left-back, allowing him to play in 12 league games.[1] His ability to play on the left saw him establish himself within the Shenzhen squad the following 2007 league season and this would see him play in a further 25 league games for them.[1] However while a firmly established player for Shenzhen throughout the 2008 league season he was unable to aid them from a second season which saw them flirt with relegation.[2]

Changchun Yatai

An already established Chinese Super League player at a young age, Zhang Wenzhao would attract interest from Changchun Yatai and would transfer to them at the beginning of the 2009 league season. On March 28, 2009 Zhang Wenzhao would make his league debut for Changchun against Jiangsu Shuntian in a 1-0 win[3]

International career

Zhang made his first appearance for the China national football team on 6 October 2011, in a friendly match against United Arab Emirates.
